The Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka participates in the European project FASIH (Future Art and Science in Industrial Heritage), which deals with the preservation and revaluation of industrial heritage in Southeast Europe. In cooperation with partners from Belgrade, Serbia and Trbovlje, Slovenia, our academy actively contributes to this important project.

The FASIH project, which started on the March 27, 2023 in Belgrade, focuses on interdisciplinary artistic and scientific research of industrial and cultural heritage in Rijeka, Belgrade and Trbovlje. Through the language of art, in conjunction with scientific research and new media, the project seeks to connect modern models of revaluation and revitalization of industrial heritage with the use of innovative digital tools and deals with the topics of sustainability, environmental protection and technological development.

FASIH aims to promote the values of cultural, scientific and industrial heritage, important for new generations of users of cultural and artistic content, but also for contemporaries of the era in which industrial complexes were created and the cultural, sociological, economic and demographic trends associated with them.

During the two and a half years of cooperation, artists and scientists from Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia will develop research projects in which they will use various digital media such as video works, 3D printing, animation, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and holographic simulations. The final segment of the project will be marked by exhibitions in all three cities, where the results of cooperation will be presented, as well as the final conference of the project at the University of Rijeka.

The Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, as an active partner in the FASIH project, invites all interested students, researchers and the general public to join the activities of this important project and to contribute together to the preservation and revitalization of our industrial heritage.
