How can AI-based approaches help in infodemic management?

Lecture by Prof. Dr. Sc. Ana Meštrović on her long term research in the fields of natural language processing (NLP) and social networks analysis (SNA). The 26th of April at 7pm.

This lecture is an overview of research ideas and results of the project “Multilayer Framework for the Information Spreading Characterization in Social Media during the COVID-19 Crisis - InfoCoV”, funded by the Croatian Science Foundation. The main goal of the InfoCoV project is information monitoring (one of the four pillars of infodemic management) which enables better understanding of the crisis communication and infodemic. This research includes approaches from the domain of artificial intelligence (AI), such as neural networks and deep learning.

This presentation will give an insight into cutting-edge technologies in the field of natural language processing (NLP) and some of their limitations. Additionally, it will be presented how NLP approaches can be combined with the field of social network analysis (SNA) in the task of information spreading analysis.
